SIBIU | 21-27 SEPTEMBER 2015

Who we are

The Sibiu International Poetry Festival Poets in Transylvania is a project developed by a team of poets and literary critics and theorists grouped around the literary magazines Transilvania and Zona nouă; the magazines and the festival are financially supported by Biblioteca Județeană ASTRA Sibiu. The team also collaborates with the Lucian Blaga University of Sibiu and with the City Hall of Sibiu.

What we do

We have built the festival in accordance with the standards of the best European literary festivals – namely those of Rotterdam, Vilenica etc. Following their examples, we aim at bringing in Sibiu the best poets writing today in all national tongues of the world, disregarding of their age, race, sex, political belief etc. We also intend to promote as profesionally and extensive as possible poetry translation as a means of safeguarding national identities. Eventually, the Festival will build an effective Romanian-based platform for literary events and activities.

Why us?

The team has a good experience of participating in international literary festivals and events, which may be capitalized in the organization of such a festival. Its members also run international literary magazines, such as Zona nouă and Transilvania, and the professional literary networks built around such magazines can also be instrumentalized in the building of the festival.
